When I overheard the groom say, “I wanted to play pretty music during the wedding ceremony, but Amber wanted to play battle music,” I knew this was going to be an incredible day. We were supposed to get torrential rain all day and I was prepared to create amazing images no matter the weather. As it turns out, not a drop of rain fell and we captured some of my favorite images of the wedding season so far. You could feel the joy and love between these two all day as reflected in their images, proving that the only battle in them is the battle for each other. Fight fiercely for each other, Amber and Terrell!
Melissia is one of my oldest friends in the world. Our mothers were best friends from high school and we were raised together like siblings sharing everything from chocolate milk to bathtubs. That was a lot of years ago. It makes me so happy now to not only attend Melissia’s wedding this Summer, but to get the honor of capturing all the special moments of her day as her photographer. It’s been great meeting and getting to know Patrick, it’s so obvious from the first moments you spend with him how much he adores and cares for Melissia. We had the most beautiful Spring evening for an engagement session in Lincoln Park. After a quick change we rushed to the Chicago river to catch the nighttime skyline; I think you’ll agree, they really lit the place up.
Creative people have rich lives and Amber and Terrell are getting married this Spring to merge their creative lives. She’s a photographer and he’s a musician and they’ll create a new life in Chicago after their wedding in her home town near Fargo, North Dakota. On their last night together in Chicago before their wedding, we braved the chilly weather for a romantic urban engagement session. I love their warm smiles and playfulness and I can’t wait to be there to photograph their wedding in a few weeks.
If true love endures all things, then Colleen and Fraser will have no trouble going the distance. These high school sweethearts have supported each other through so much; family and friends gathered from around Scotland this Summer to celebrate their love and marriage. As their Aunties will tell you, she’s spirited and he’s grounded and together they provide a perfect balance for each other. They are a wonderful couple that love each other immensely.
Ross Priory, affixed to the banks of Loch Lomand has the romantic feel of Downton Abbey and provided a wonderful backdrop to Colleen and Fraser’s wedding portraits. We had a beautiful day celebrating them with wonderful sunshine and dramatic cloudscapes that make shooting in Scotland such a dream. To add to the perfectly romantic Scottish backdrop, we even came across wild thisle, Scotland’s national flower, growing alongside the loch and I just had to include it in this collection of photos.
