The University of Michigan Law school is a special place for Tariq and Mona, they started their life together here early on in their careers. “You know, Mona and I are celebrating 12 years of marriage in a couple of weeks, I would love to surprise her with photos. It would be meaningful to have good family portraits together and with out daughters,” He told me over lunch. It was decided, the law quad was a fitting backdrop for portraits celebrating their life together with their three beautiful daughters.

We share in common our love for the outdoors and exploring the great state of Michigan. Tariq loves to take his family on nature walks so we headed over to the Arboretum on campus to catch some of the Fall color, great family memories were captured. There was plenty of spontaneous twirling.I have a feeling Rayanne steels the show in this household, her cuteness is inescapable. I love this moment between Mom and daughter.I love Amina’s eyes as she clings to her Dad on a walk through the Arboretum. Thanks Tariq and Mona! I’ve always been so curious what it’s like for parents to raise children in the city. Carolyn and Greg are my city-dwelling-parent-heros. They’re raising the coolest kid and making it work in a neighborhood full of activity. Haiden loves baseball, superheros, comic books, trains and Wilco. (Coincidentally, so does his Daddy. They really get along that way.)

After capturing some great family shots in their loft, we headed out for their favorite park to play and catch the leaves starting to change color. Haiden loves his trains so much he could barely let go of them all afternoon.Dear Haiden,

I hope you stumble upon these pictures in a shoebox one day and are reminded how much your Mommy and Daddy adore you, the joy you bring them and the fun you have as a family. These photos prove it and I’m so happy to have been there to capture a piece of it!

My favorite part of being a lifestyle photographer is the opportunity to meet folks on their home turf, capturing real activities in real places that are meaningful to them. It’s an exciting time for Becca and Jon, they’ve just moved to a new neighborhood and their boys have several fruit trees in their backyard and an awesome park right out their front door. As you can see, the park is filled with Autumn leaves; Owen and Titus had a blast crunching, raking and jumping in the piles. Check out a few favorites from their Fall family session.

It was so fun to stroll around Jodi and Paul’s neighborhood again, you may remember Jodi and Paul’s Maternity session earlier this Spring. This time, we got to take 4 month old, Mila along and she did great! We found some fantastic fall light in the parks and sidewalks near they’re house. Check out their loyal dog, Ruff, he hardly ever left their side the entire time. I love it!

We recently got to meet up with our good friends Matt and Sharon who recently moved to Mishawaka, Indiana. We had a really fun portrait session by the St. Joseph River and even got to splash around in the water a bit. Deacon loves puddles and dipping his feet in the running water. Even though it was approaching 80 degrees, there was a change in the atmosphere and it really felt like the first photo session of Autumn for us.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Deacon, we love watching you grow so big and strong.
