On a bright January morning, surrounded by the laughter of her sisters and girlfriends, Amy waited patiently. The room fell to a hush as her Father walked in to see his daughter dressed and ready for her wedding day. A warm look of pride came over his face as he walked into the room and then tears overcame them both. Above the rooftops, Parker was waiting to see his bride for the first time, they were surrounded by the historic part of the Chicago skyline. Tears continued to fall and the day was off to a wonderfully emotional start. Old Chicago was the was the setting for this wonderful black tie celebration and it almost felt like we’d traveled back to the 1920’s as the celebration unfolded all around us. You may remember Lydia and Jake from their awesome snowy engagement session last year. Snow flakes were the theme at their January wedding this year. Lydia and her friends and family crafted all their winter details together and Jake lent his carpentry skills to pull off a wonderful winter wonderland wedding. After a wonderful ceremony performed by Lydia’s Father, everyone gathered to celebrate and The Onion Pub & Brewery. Make-up by: Katie Riordan. Check out a few favorites from the big celebration.

It’s not that I’ve never photographed a wedding with two people so in love, it’s that I’ve never photographed a wedding where two people, their parents and everyone surrounding them were so devoted to each other and honored to be there with each other. There was something special in the air on Alyssa and Dan’s wedding day that I can’t quite put into words, but it comes through in the photos. You can see it in the way they look at each other. Come for the elegant soiree, but stay for the Father/Daughter dance. Seriously, the Father/Daughter dance puts a smile on my face every time; they really know how to get down. Dan and Alyssa and their families are bound by love and a common faith; check out some photos from a day of great celebration.

Rain or shine, we were all pretty convinced that Paul and Kaitlin’s wedding day was going to be a blast…the clouds seemed to turn off the lights outside and it poured all afternoon. Having a spectacular rain plan in my back pocket assures that we can still make some classic images and these two were game for improvising. We hopped in my car and rushed around Chicago to get some killer shots. When we returned to the ceremony and reception the guests were ready to celebrate. Check out a few favorites from the day.

Their love is casual and fun, the kind of love that’s not afraid to get a little sand between the toes. Stefanie and Matt met and fell in love in Cincinnati, Ohio but  chose the beach town of St. Joseph, Michigan as the destination for their wedding. St. Joe fits them perfectly and was a convenient destination for their family and friends to gather. Stefanie and Matt had a breezy and sweet first look under the cupola that tops the old Whitcomb Hotel. From there we met up with the wedding party for some fun photos in the dune grass overlooking the St. Joe lighthouse and Lake Michigan. It all came together with a garden ceremony followed by a fun reception filled with gorgeous beach-themed decorations designed by the bride. Check out some of my favorites from the day!
